A new chapter for Highlands Post

Highlands Post is beginning a new chapter as an independent digital magazine about life in the NSW Southern Highlands. Published by Mafia Publishing, this is a new digital publication using a historic local masthead.

Our patch begins in Bowral and takes in Mittagong, Moss Vale, Berrima, Bundanoon, Robertson and Sutton Forest, as well as Burrawang, Exeter, Fitzroy Falls and the surrounding villages. A smaller population should not make a place less worth writing about.

What belongs here

We are interested in the things that affect life in the Wingecarribee: a local business changing hands, a community group doing useful work, a building with a story, a new place to eat, or a practical question that deserves a properly checked answer.

The magazine has sections for News, What's On, Food & Drink, Weddings, Homes & Property, Travel & Weekends, Business, People, History and Guides. Food coverage should tell a reader something useful about a restaurant or its people. Wedding coverage should help couples understand their local choices. History should show where a claim comes from.

Our starting point is local newspaper work: names, places, dates, sources and a reason for the reader to care. We will distinguish reporting from contributed business features and advertising, and correct mistakes when they are brought to our attention.

Send something worth knowing

Residents, businesses, clubs and community groups can submit a story, business or event. Submissions are free and reviewed before publication. Include the town, the relevant dates, a source we can check and photographs you have permission to publish.
